Division of Automotive Safety and Survey

The specific duties of the Division of Automotive Safety and Survey are as follows:

  1. Proposing and managing the application of the state policy regarding Automotive Safety.
  2. Studying, working out and proposing standards and regulations related to the Automotive Transport Safety, as well as those rules of survey and control to be applied in such branch.
  3. Surveying and controlling what refers to the regulations on Automotive Safety, about the accident control; the requisites and technical specifications of the means of automotive transportation to be imported or manufactured in the country and the physical, psychometric and re-qualifying exams for the drivers in the transporting entities.
  4. Taking part in the investigation and analysis of the catastrophic accidents in which automotive vehicles from transporting entities for the public service are involved.
  5. Performing and applying the System of State Survey for the transportation in the automotive branch, concerning the use, operation and preservation of the transportation equipment, as well as those facilities ensuring the complementary services of maintenance, repairs or technical assistance to these equipment.
  6. Controlling and supervising the discipline in the use of operative licences for operating automotive transportation equipment when carrying cargoes or passengers.
  7. Supervising the use of the country´s highways, as well as the road preservation works made.
  8. Supervising and controlling the technical survey of the automotive vehicles in the Plants for Technical Survey.
